![]() Interim Foster Care HFS foster care is short-term and provided for infants in the process of adoption. Our foster parents care only for the children placed with our agency, most of whom are already matched with a family. Birth parents may choose to have their child in HFS foster care to allow them time to explore their parenting options. Other reasons, such as legal, may require foster care before the child is placed with an adoptive family. Interim Foster Parents are not looking to adopt the children in their care--they're adults who want to make a positive difference in a child's life. HFS foster care may last from a few days to a few months. Training, emotional support and financial remuneration is provided. A social worker and agency nurse provide additional support. When time off is desired, an HFS respite foster family will assume the responsibilities of caring for the child in care. To learn more about becoming an interim or respite foster care family, contact the Foster Care Department: email us or call (714) 528-6300. |
