Who we are
HFS is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization and Southern California’s most experienced adoption resource. We finalize more infant and child adoptions than any other private adoption agency in California. HFS is state-licensed and nationally accredited, and we focus exclusively on adoption and foster care services, serving Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino, and Ventura Counties. We are located at 840 Echo Park Ave., Los Angeles, CA 90026, and our website address is hfs.org.
What personal data we collect
We collect information from you when you sign up for our mailing list, make a donation, or fill out any of the forms on our site. When appropriate, we may ask for your name, address, phone number, and/or email address. Unless you send us your information through a form, your visit to our site remains anonymous.
When visitors leave comments on the site, we collect the data shown in the comments form, along with the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help detect spam.
An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available at https://automattic.com/privacy/. After your comment is approved, your profile picture is visible to the public next to your comment.

How do we protect your information?
We use a variety of security measures to keep your personal information safe, including an SSL certificate and software that protects our site and visitors from spam, viruses, and malware.
Donations. Our online donations are managed through DonorPerfect, a secure fundraising and donor management platform. DonorPerfect processes payments securely, and HFS does not store your full credit card information. We use the information you provide to process your gift, send your tax receipt, and keep a record of your support.
Mailing list. Our mailing list is powered by Constant Contact, a secure email marketing platform. You can unsubscribe at any time using the link at the bottom of any email we send.
Contact forms. We keep contact form submissions for a limited period to respond to program, service, and media inquiries. We do not use this information for marketing purposes.
Cookies
If you leave a comment on our site, you may choose to save your name, email address and website in cookies. These are for your convenience, so you don’t have to fill in your details again when you leave another comment. These cookies last for one year.
If you have an account and log in to this site, we will set a temporary cookie to check whether your browser accepts cookies. This cookie contains no personal data and is discarded when you close your browser.
When you log in, we will also set several cookies to save your login information and screen display choices. Login cookies last for two days, and screen options cookies last for one year. If you select “Remember Me,” your login will last for two weeks. If you log out of your account, the login cookies will be removed.
If you edit or publish an article, an additional cookie will be saved in your browser. This cookie contains no personal data and simply records the post ID of the article you just edited. It expires after one day.
