Part-Time Social Worker Position

HFS Adoptions and Foster Care is the oldest adoption agency in Southern California. We have worked for the community for almost 75 years. Our service area covers Ventura, Los Angeles, Orange, San Bernardino and Riverside Counties. Our offices are located in Echo Park and Fullerton. We work with birth parents who are considering adoption for their child, people interested in adopting relinquished children, and foster youth/foster families.  The social work team is very supportive and available.

Currently HFS is looking for an MSW (mandatory) Social Worker (Spanish proficient highly preferred) with some experience with adoption/foster care (preferred, not mandatory). This job will allow you to work with all of our clients – adoptive parents, resource parents, birth parents and children. It will also allow you an opportunity to interact with community organizations such as the dependency system, courts, hospitals, and clinics. You would be responsible in writing homestudies, supervise a case load of birth mothers and a caseload of minors who are under our care.  You will have time being on-call, but that will be mostly giving information over the phone.

The current position is for 19 hours a week, has a lot of flexibility and is currently mostly remote with office space available for meetings. Sick and vacation time is accrued in this position.  This position could have added hours in the future with added benefits.

Requirements for the position:

– You must live in the Los Angeles or surrounding area

We have offices in Echo Park and Fullerton for your convenience

– Have an MSW

– Have a working vehicle and valid drivers’ license (we reimburse mileage)

– Highly preferred – Spanish proficient and adoption/foster care experience (compensation is based on experience and second language ability)

-Have Covid vaccine verification (LA County requirement as a county vender)

-Due to COVID-19 our staff are mostly telecommuting to make sure that we stay healthy for our clients and our families.  Some meetings are done through zoom, but there is some face-to-face interaction with clients.  PPE supplies are provided by HFS and all health department guidelines are followed.
