Over the past two weeks, we witnessed a beautiful and emotional journey come to life, and we are filled with gratitude for the compassionate team at Dignity Health – St. Mary Medical Center. Adoption often carries both joy and deep heartache, and our birth mother made a heart-rending decision that required strength, courage, and immense love. During this tender time, the hospital’s nursing and social work staff stood by her side, ensuring that she felt supported, respected, and cared for every step of the way.
Our birth mother entered the hospital with courage, but also with a deep need for comfort, reassurance, and dignity. The staff met her with kindness, patience, and a listening ear, offering her the emotional support she needed during one of the most vulnerable times of her life. Their thoughtful gestures and gentle presence reminded her that she was not alone, wrapping her in the compassion that every mother deserves.
At the same time, the hospital’s NICU team became a lifeline for the baby. With skill and dedication, they ensured that the baby received the very best medical care while also surrounding the little one with warmth and attentiveness. Knowing the baby was in such capable, loving hands gave everyone involved—the birth mother and adoptive family alike—peace of mind and comfort in the midst of transition.
The adoptive mother, stepping into her new role, also found a circle of support in the staff. Nurses and social workers answered questions, offered guidance, and treated her with the same respect and care they gave to the birth mother. Their sensitivity created a bridge, helping all sides of the adoption triad feel seen, valued, and cared for during this tender time.
We are deeply thankful to St. Mary’s for the extraordinary compassion shown to everyone involved in this placement. Adoption is not a journey walked alone—it takes the hands and hearts of many. The love and professionalism of the staff made this two-week journey a shining example of how, together, we can create a safe and nurturing beginning for both a child and their family.
