When we welcomed Irene Sharpe to the Holy Family Services Board of Directors last September, we were not just gaining an experienced professional and thoughtful leader. We were welcoming home someone whose life has been deeply shaped by the very mission she now helps to guide.
A Gift That Changed Everything
Irene’s connection to Holy Family Services did not begin in a boardroom. It began in one of the most personal, life-changing moments a family can experience.
After a tricky birth with their biological son Connor, Irene and her husband John welcomed their daughter Madeline into their lives in 1995 through adoption facilitated by Holy Family Services. For Irene, there is no hesitation in describing what that moment meant. It was the greatest gift of their lives.
Now, more than 30 years later, that gift has come full circle. The same organization that helped build her family is one that Irene is now helping to lead.
A Longstanding Supporter of the HFS Mission
Irene’s involvement with Holy Family Services did not begin with her board appointment either. Long before joining HFS leadership, she was a proud and active member of HFS’s 200 Associates, a group of dedicated supporters who champion the mission of adoption and foster care within their communities.
In that role, Irene made it her mission to bring fellow Catholics together, introducing them to the work of Holy Family Services and encouraging them to become part of something greater than themselves.
Professional Experience That Strengthens Our Mission
Alongside her deep personal ties to HFS, Irene brings real professional experience to the Board. Since 2008, she has worked at an asset management firm in Downtown Los Angeles. Before that, she spent 14 years at Sharpe + Associates, the commercial photography repping company founded by her husband, John.
Together, Irene and John have built a life marked by partnership, resilience, and generosity. Those are exactly the kinds of values that fit right at home here at Holy Family Services.
