As we enter this season of thanks and giving, I have to reflect on the amazing moments of gratitude and generosity that are part of the fabric of Holy Family Services (HFS) Adoption & Foster Care. It started in 1949 with our founders, Dolores Hope and Dr. George Piness, and it has continued with thousands of hours of counseling and over 6,000 forever families created through adoption. This is our “Legacy of Hope”; hope for birth parents who need guidance and comfort, hope for adoptive parents wanting to give their love and support to a child, and hope for a child deserving a loving family.
We are so grateful to everyone throughout the years who have supported HFS and who continue to make this legacy a lasting one. First, I would like to thank the Adoption Guild of Southern California for their unwavering support of HFS over the last 58 years. I can’t say enough about how their commitment and contribution to HFS has been such a precious gift. I would also like to acknowledge our very active Board of Directors whose relentless attention to HFS has kept us moving and growing! And a special thanks to the staff whose consistent effort and sometimes 24-hour availability is the heartbeat of HFS.
During the last year, we advanced our strategic plan to effectively communicate with our community. Through our increased visibility on social media and our website, we have been able to reach out to birth parents and adoptive parents, as well as past adoptees who are seeking post-adoptive support. We are receiving inquiries and responses, reaching farther than we ever imagined and it is increasing every day!
This year, we are more determined to become the foremost resource for adoption information and training. We plan to expand our outreach and education programs with live webinars and video training for prospective adoptive and foster parents, birth parents, and professionals. It is exciting to be a part of this community and we hope you will join us in continuing our legacy of hope!
We invite you to be a part of HFS by serving on our board, supporting us with your donation, or through volunteering. Please look at our website (hfs.org), follow us on social media, and email us at info@hfs.org.
We would love to hear from you!
